This 2022  edition of the Community Schooling Journal from the UCLA Center for Community Schooling delves into how educators, families, and students in Durham, North Carolina, harnessed their collective agency to regain control of local public schools following a state takeover plan. Serving as a living example of democratic education, the Durham team carved out a space for collectively grappling with profound ideas and theories within the framework of daily school operations.
